The historic election of Barack Obama, along with many new Members of Congress who pledged to revive our economy and heal our planet, means we have new potential for the bold and urgent leadership we need to solve the climate challenge.
But as President-elect Obama said, real change won’t just happen. We’ll have to work together and make it happen by pushing our leaders for real solutions to the energy crisis and climate change.
On Tuesday, November 18, volunteers will gather all over the country — with help from 1Sky, the Energy Action Coalition and 350 — to welcome President-elect Obama and the new Congress by calling on them to make climate an immediate priority in 2009. Will you join them?

It’s a simple but powerful action: On November 18, you can “welcome” your representatives to the new Congress by visiting their local office near your home with a strong demand that they make climate change a top priority in Washington.
As part of the welcome, you’ll deliver a large greeting card representing the thousands of people in your state who voted on climate. You’ll also ask President-elect Obama to go to the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Poznań, Poland in December, to re-engage the international community and show the world he will lead on climate.

You don’t have to make an appointment with the office, and you can bring along as many people as you like. After you sign up, we’ll send you everything you need for the welcome, including a tool kit and the card itself, to make your visit a success.
Your commitment to making climate a top priority in this election has really paid off: Both presidential campaigns adopted climate policies that were vast improvements over what we’ve seen for the last eight years. But our work has just begun. Now more than ever, we need to get this show on the road!
