2009 – The Climate Year

[REPOST from 1Sky]

It’s hard to believe that the 2009 state legislative session starts on Monday! This year three of the four Environmental Priorities tackle climate change head on:  cap and invest (implementing Washington’s part of the Western Climate Initiative),  energy efficiency, and transit oriented communities.  To learn more about each of the priority proposals, check out www.environmentalpriorities.org.

We also will be working to ensure $10 million is invested  in the state’s green jobs training program that was passed last year, but not funded.   Read more here.

This agenda is exciting and absolutely essential!  It’s also very ambitious. All four of these proposals will need a massive amount of public will and action to pass them. To advance these critical solutions, we will need your voice more than ever.  Over the next few weeks stay tuned for opportunities to take action, get involved, and help pass these key climate bills.

Also mark your calendar for these exciting upcoming events!
